French Hack #1 - The difference between RENTRER / REVENIR / RETOURNER

This is such a common mistake for French learners I thought I'd make a short video to explain the difference between these 3 confusing verbs. They all express an idea of going somewhere but their meaning is slightly different... Rentrer means to GO BACK (home), it means you're going back to where you normally are / live. Je vais rentrer tard ce soir. (I will go home late tonight) Tu veux rentrer chez toi ? (Do you want to go back home ?) Il est rentré dans son pays. (He went back to his country) Revenir means to COME BACK/AGAIN. Ma mère me dit toujours : Tu vas revenir en France ? (My mum always tells me "Will you come back to France ?) Retourner means to GO AGAIN. So we're talking about somewhere we've been before, but it's not where we normally are. J'aimerais retourner en Colombie. (I would like to go back to Colombia.) Tu vas retourner en Écosse pour les vacances ? (Are you going back [meaning "again"] to Scotland for the holidays ?)
