Through Friday, temperatures will gradually climb, reaching the low 60s. ️ This is a welcome change from the recent cold snap, and it will be a great opportunity to enjoy some time outdoors. Saturday looks even warmer, with highs in the upper 60s and partly cloudy skies. There are multiple Christmas parades on Saturday, including those in Durham, Cary and Fayetteville. For the parades, the weather will be dry and mild, with temperatures starting in the 50s and reaching the 60s by afternoon. The weekend will be a big change, with highs in the upper 60s to low 70s and a chance for rain and thunderstorms on Sunday, a WRAL Weather Alert Day. WRAL Meteorologist Kat Campbell said Sunday will be a high-impact weather day for multiple reasons, including heavy and widespread rain. There is a Level 1 (marginal) risk of flooding for much of North Carolina. There is also a Level 1 out of 5 risk for severe weather on Sunday. Winds could gust to 25 mph through most of the day and pick up to 40 mph in the evening and nighttime hours. The weather cools down again for Monday through Wednesday of next week, with bright skies, lower humidity, and highs in the 50s and lows in the 20s and 30s.
