HELP! My bike won't change gear! What to do when your bike is stuck in gear or neutral

A short technical guide to what to do when your motorbike gets stuck in a gear or neutral. Try not to panic. Apply this technique and you will quickly be riding off again on your motorbike. Many new riders comment that the gearbox isn't working, or the motorcycle is broken because it won't change gear once stationary. However the problem is user error, rather than a broken motorcycle! Using this technique we can quickly resolve the issue and get on with our motorbike journeys. Motorbike gearboxes are designed to select gears at the appropriate speed when travelling along, and they can get in a muddle when the gear lever is applied in quick succession, at the wrong speeds, or when stationary.
