PHILADELPHIA – The Philadelphia Department of Public Health today announced 242 additional confirmed cases of COVID-19 novel coronavirus in Philadelphia. That brings the number of confirmed cases to 112,526. In addition, the Department of Public Health also announced 54 new probable cases from rapid antigen tests. The Department of Public Health confirmed 13 additional fatalities in Philadelphia. This brings the number of residents who have succumbed to the virus in Philadelphia to 3,070. Of the 3,070 total deaths, 1,142 (37%) were long-term care facility residents. The Department of Public Health reports 287 patients with COVID-19 are currently being treated in Philadelphia hospitals, with a total of 46 on ventilators. CHOP Education and Childcare Personnel Vaccination Program: The City of Philadelphia’s effort to inoculate teachers, principals, and staff of all schools is now underway with the launch of an initial clinic at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia’s Roberts Center for Pediatric Research. The program will continue in coming weeks and expand to pop-up clinics located in school buildings throughout the city. Vaccinations are available under this program to staff of all District, charter, independent and parochial schools, as well as at childcare centers and pre-K providers.
