In celebration of Women’s History Month, Orange TV presents a powerful tribute to the women driving public safety across Orange County, Florida. Produced and edited by Ingrid Cotto for Mayor Jerry L. Demings’ Women’s History Month Forum, this video opened the live event by spotlighting the strength, dedication, and leadership of women across multiple public safety agencies. The video features: Chief Lauraleigh Avery, Division Chief of Emergency Operations, Orange County Fire Rescue, whose leadership and service have played a pivotal role in emergency preparedness and disaster response countywide. Chief Deputy Denise Demps, the first Black woman to hold this executive position at the Orange County Sheriff's Office. With over three decades of law enforcement experience, she has led divisions in patrol, narcotics, child abuse investigations, and internal affairs. Chanté Major, a 25-year veteran of the Orange County Corrections Department. Starting as a volunteer at age 19, she has risen through the ranks to become a respected leader in corrections, known for her unwavering dedication to rehabilitation and public safety. Alexandra Pearce, recognized as the 2024 Deputy of the Year by Orange County Fire Rescue. Her exemplary performance, integrity, and commitment have made her a standout figure in the department. This inspiring video honors these remarkable women for their service, leadership, and empowerment in traditionally male-dominated fields. Their stories serve as a powerful reminder of the impact women continue to make in protecting and serving our community.
