INCREDIBLE SOUND FROM A 1967 MAGNAVOX IMPERIAL ASTRO-SONIC STEREO CONSOLE

Hello all, I thought I'd take a moment to post this little video to give you an idea what a 1967-69 series Magnavox Imperial should sound like when it is re-capped - properly adjusted - and with all controls cleaned. That acoustical tunnel, twin 15" Bass Woofers (with 7lbs. combined magnet weight) and 4-Treble Horns can really perform when all the proper steps are taken. Also, an Astro-Sonic (in proper tune/repair) will have all the richness of its tubed predecessors. Magnavox designed them this way, and they were successfully sold as an advance in both reliability and sound quality. Of course, I do not know what sort of speakers/amp you will be listening to this with, but the high-end Samsung smartphone I used has far better microphones than my much older Nikon digital camera. Here - on my decent desktop speakers - it gives a very good "taste" of what the real experience is...but you'd have to be here to hear all the richness, it's really fantastic. And I say this not to "brag" about my set, but frankly to give credit to Mr. Freimann and his incredible abilities to direct Magnavox's design resources to create a true "integrated" instrument where every link in the audio chain is specifically tailored to all others for an overall "sound" that was unmatchable dollar-for-dollar, and in many cases could not be bettered (in the opinion of enough folks for great market success) for many more dollars! Hope you enjoy!
