On Monday, 25 May I stood in the Federal Parliament to congratulate the people of Ireland in voting over the weekend for equal marriage. Almost all of us have friends and family who are LGBTI, and as Member for Hotham, I represent thousands of LGBTI Australians. But discrimination affects all of us - this is about what kind of country we live in. Today, the law discriminates against LGBTI Australians by denying them the right to marry. Australia has a history of leading the world in fighting discrimination and I want that to continue.
