It follows the story of Jin Sakai "a samurai" along with a good cast of side characters as the work together to slow the invasion of Mongols led by a ruthless and lack of honor leader called Khatun Khan. Jin Sakai is forced to adapt to his current situation and this leads to the use of tactics that the Samurai code calls unhonorable.
