If the only constant is change, then why does it feel like history is repeating itself? When Bob Dylan wrote "Times They Are A-Changin'" it was the time of the Civil Rights marches, folk music, and an increasing awareness of what we were doing to our planet. almost 60 years later, we are still seeing people March for their civil rights, using music as a form of protest, and are dealing with the realities of global climate change. And on top of all of that, we now have artificial intelligence to worry about. Do we embrace it or reject it? The creator of this video, Jake Van Asten, told me that he felt AI animation fit perfectly in this video. Similar to how I prepare for a song going through it line by line as if it were a monologue, Jake said his inspiration came directly from Dylan's lyrics. Jake's choices in animation show changes from the industrial revolution to today. The “funky transitions” as I am morphed through different animation styles are intended to be unsettling, showing the fear people feel about change. So whether you are a fan or a skeptic, AI is here – to stay. And while I strongly believe that we need to quickly establish control over how it can be used, I just as strongly believe that we must learn to use it.
