Residents of one of Los Angeles' most affluent neighborhoods fled their homes after "extreme" wind conditions quickly spread wildfires. Pacific Palisades, an affluent neighborhood home to celebrities including Tom Hanks, his wife Rita Wilson and Steven Spielberg, is where the fire broke out Tuesday morning. Firefighters faced a terrible night as they battled the Palisades fire, which had spread to nearly 3,000 acres, as strong winds fueled another blaze in Los Angeles County. With gusty winds expected to strengthen overnight, the mandatory evacuation zone was extended north and east into the Pacific Palisades. About 30,000 residents are under evacuation orders and more than 13,000 structures are under threat, Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Christine Crowley said.
