Don't blink, haters will say it’s fake --------------------------------------------------------------------- Speedrun analysis: Speedrunning Jazz 1.0 as a pianist tends to boil down to cleverly partitioning notes between the hands. And like many of the most well-respected stages in the game, Giant Steps is full of carefully constructed patterns and symmetry, which can be exploited to make the execution of this stage as ergonomic as possible. The execution itself can be broken up into the first 7 measures and the final 9 measures. In the first 7 measures, I use the following fingerings: (rh) 421 (lh) 42 (rh) 32531 (lh) 42 The left hand moves minimally and the consistency of the fingering allows me to focus on executing the right hand here. In the right, I could've gone for 21421 instead of 32531. However, something about the slight tactile difference in using the third and pinky fingers and the fact that 21421 requires a bit of thumb movement allows me to execute those 5 notes a bit more comfortably with 32531. The last 9 measures showcase the stage's symmetry at its best, through which I can use the left hand to take the first note and every third one after that with the same finger. This paves the way for a very mindless, low-risk exit from the stage, and is also optimized for executing those repeated notes which would otherwise be quite troublesome at these speeds. I specifically use the following fingerings: (lh) 3 (rh) 13 (lh) 3 (rh) 13 (lh) 3 (rh) 24 (lh) 3 (rh) 24 (lh) 3 (rh) 24 (lh) 3 (rh) 2
