Hixson Burglary Suspect Behind Bars

A suspected burglar is behind bars thanks to indoor security cameras. Hamilton County detectives say Kenneth Hill was caught on camera burglarizing a home on Rocky Ledge Drive. That video posted on NewsChannel9.com was viewed by more than 10,000 people.It's a video no homeowner ever wants to see.A man you don't know breaks into your home, turns on your light and starts rummaging through your things.It's incidents like this that prompted James McMullen to add extra security.. to his Soddy Daisy lake house. McMullen isn't a stranger to crime. He says security cameras outside his home led police to the culprit.At this time when the trailer was stolen, the Sheriff's Department caught him in about three hours because we were able to play back the video and they knew exactly who it was and caught him by having the cameras in place,says McMullen.But one or two wasn't enough. McMullen now has 13 cameras. Eight on the outside and five on the insideDavid Jones owns AV Simplified Solutions in Ringgold. He says he sees customers like McMullen more than he used to. He says that's because more people are turning to technology to keep their family safe. I think cameras will play a very important part of solving crimes in this area as well as anywhere. I think without that technology, it's much harder to convict someone, says Jones. Jones says security cameras range in price depending on how advanced you want your system to be. He says they start around two hundred and run all the way up to around 12 thousand dollars. As for Hill, police have charged him with two counts of aggravated burglary, and two counts of theft over 500 dollars. By Alyssa Spirato
