St Ignatius of Loyola had a deep devotion to the Mother of Jesus. Early in his conversion journey, in March 1522, he stopped at the Abbey of Montserrat, in Catalonia, and knelt before the statue of Mary. He told her of his desire for a new life and entrusted himself to her maternal love. Father Arturo Sosa, in this Ignatian Year, also prayed before the same image of Mary in Montserrat. Let us join him in prayer. The Solemnity of the Assumption of Mary is celebrated every year on August 15th. This feast commemorates the death of the Blessed Virgin Mary and her assumption, body and soul, into Heaven.
