John Joubert's story begins in Portland, Maine, and was fairly normal: He was on his high school track team, played clarinet and was an active member in Boy Scouts. Though his he didn't have a good relationship with his mother, he maintained good grades and went on to Norwich University in Vermont, later dropping out. At 19 years old he murdered his first victim, 11-year-old Richard Stetson. After joining the Air Force and moving to Nebraska, Joubert would go on to kill several more victims, all young boys.
