2022 Atlantic Hurricane Season
After 6 consecutive devastating seasons, yet another strong season was forecast by many agencies in the Atlantic. For 3 years since 2020, a La Niña had formed and gripped the pacific, leading to the 2 most extreme seasons in a long while in terms of named storms; 2020 and 2021. During the latter year, 21 named storms formed, of which 7 became hurricanes and 4 of them further intensified into major hurricanes. One of which, Hurricane Ida, was among the costliest storms ever. Despite high activity, Florida remained nearly unharmed, with three storms (Elsa, Fred, Mindy) affecting the region, but none at hurricane intensity. Louisiana, already recovering from a train of hurricanes in 2020, was struck hard that year. Now, the 2022 season loomed closer. As forecasters expect extremely high activity for the third year in a row, the nations braced for the worst.
