Saving in the german CBS version and switching to the japanese version gets you to the spawning point of the level (and vice versa, given you're not in the spawning point room I think because it seems to crash in this case). The people behind the "official" sr.com leaderboards decided against the addition of a clear rule to disallow mixing versions on all classic Tomb Raider games. TR4 has no rule on mixing versions on those leaderboards, so anything that gets you to the next level, like this, is alright, I guess...
