🚨Operation Fish & Chips🐟 🎰 Nearly two years. 12 arrests. Millions of dollars’ worth of seized property, one of the largest seizures in our agency’s history. A crackdown on illegal gaming. Your #JSO Vice Unit spearheaded this multiagency operation to shut down illegal gaming locations in Jacksonville. From March 2023 to December of this year, detectives worked tirelessly to identify these illegal operations and arrest who were profiting off them. On December 11th, we served seven search warrants simultaneously, capturing those responsible for these illegal gaming rooms. ITEMS SEIZED 🎰263 illegal gambling devices including slot machines, fish tables, and desktop computers 💰$2.5M in illegally sourced cash 💎$1.2M in jewelry, watches, and purses (paid for with illegally obtained money) 🏎️15 vehicles and a trailer (valued at almost $1.7M, paid for with illegally obtained money) 🔫52 firearms 🏘️2 houses 🏢1 commercial building This operation is about much more than illegal business; it’s about keeping your neighborhood safe. Where there is illegal business, there is violence. During the timeframe of Operation Fish & Chips, two people were killed at illegal gaming locations across Duval County. There were also 8 robberies and 26 aggravated assaults at these sites. Shutting these locations down removes one accelerant to ignite violence in our community.
