Lost In Chamonix

After leaving Lyon, Ben and I set our sights on the Alps as the next stop on our respective journeys across Europe. We managed to book a cheap hotel room for the night, with plans to wild camp and live in the mountains for the following two days. So, as we arrived in Chamonix, we settled in and decided to go on a hike to survey the mountains that we would be hiking over the upcoming days. However, what was supposed to be a short adventure turned into a 5 hour, 8.5 mile trek along various different trails and terrains. We navigated steep inclines, walked aside mountain goats, and ate make-shift dinners above the clouds - it was safe to say that day one in Chamonix wasn't just spontaneous, it was the side quest of a lifetime... but how would things go when we didn't have a backup plan?
