In this video, you will know why your "Optus email is not sending emails" through Outlook (Outlook 365) and how to fix the outgoing issue only. Your Optus email receives email fine; the problem is only with outgoing emails in Outlook. If you login through a browser, incoming and outgoing both works fine, its only with the email clients like Outlook, Thunderbird, BlueMail etc.. I myself fixed many Optus user's same email issues. For a few clients, Optus email starts sending when they are home, but outside it doesn't work, and for the majority it doesn't work anywhere. ------------------------- *CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM* Optus email typically works only through SMTP Port number 25, which is actually blocked the Internet providers for security and other reasons. So it's not your computer, or Optus email, or Outlook has any problem, it's your Internet provider itself. Optus itself has blocked Port 25 for most of the users, but for a few it works after requesting to open Port 25 through the backend team. This is really a headache, so I had to come up with a different solution that works for everyone. ------------------------- *THE SOLUTION* We can relay Optus emails through Gmail. In this process we route emails through Gmail server, this doesn't mean the receiver will see a Gmail(a different email) when he receives the email. NO, HE WON'T. ------------------------- *REQUIREMENTS TO CONTINUE* Working Gmail ID and Password Adding Optus email in Gmail IMAP/POP Enabled in Gmail 2 Step verification on in Gmail App specific password ------------------------- *STEPS IN DETAIL* First make sure that you have a working password for your Optus email, by logging into https://webmail.optusnet.com.au. If you are able to sign in to the Optus webmail, you are good to go. If not, first get a working password for your Optus itself, you might have to call Optus support to get the password reset. Now get your Gmail ID. If you don't have any Gmail account yet, please sign up for one through https://accounts.google.com. Go to https://gmail.com, go to settings page - Accounts and Import - Add another email address, and start the process of adding your Optus email. You will have to verify the action by clicking on the verification link sent to your Optus email inbox. Next step is to enable IMAP and POP through Settings page - Forwarding and POP/IMAP. Check the boxes for both POP and IMAP, Enable POP and Enable IMAP. Now make sure your Gmail has 2 step verification turned on, by going to the https://myaccount.google.com. Look for Security from the left list and find 2-Step verification. Click on it, add your working phone number, Google will send a code in text message, verify it, and turn it on. When done, get back to the https://myaccount.google.com, search for App password through the search box on top, click on it, name it, and click create. You will have the App password displayed, copy it as it is. Make sure you don't alter the generated password by removing the spaces in between. In the next step we will add this Gmail ID and the generated App password in the Outgoing server information in Outlook. This is where we are telling Outlook to send emails through Gmail, and on the other hand we have added Optus email in Gmail, so Google will detect the process and the receiver will receive email as normal. Open Run box. There are many ways to open run box, here simply use key combination of Windows key + R. Type "outlook /manageprofiles" without quotes in the Run box, and click Ok. Open Email accounts - Select email - Change. In this Window, in the Outgoing mail server field, enter smtp.gmail.com, click More settings, go to Outgoing server parent tab, select Log on using box, enter your Gmail ID in user name, and that App password in the Password box. Make sure Remember password is checked. Go to Advanced tab now, first select SSL/TLS in the encryption type below Outgoing server, and Outgoing server(SMTP) port number to 465, Click Ok, and Next. In the last step, Google will try to verify this new login in Outlook by showing a login page again, either as a login popup screen, or through the browser login. Remember, this time to enter your original Gmail password, and allow all the positive options. When you follow all this correctly, you will be able to send emails through Outlook. ------------------------- *OUTLOOK /MANAGEPROFILES* Alternate way to open Open Run box ( key combination Win+R), type Control, click Ok. Look for search box in this Control Panel, on the top right corner. Search for Mail, click on Mail (Microsoft Outlook) ------------------------- *TIMESTEMP* 00:36 Root cause of the problem 01:03 How to fix 02:02 Add Optus email in Gmail 02:56 Verify account setup 03:26 Enable IMAP/POP 03:58 Generate App password 04:50 Add Gmail SMTP in Outlook 06:13 Login to Gmail in Outlook ------------------------- #OutlookFix #SMTPError #EmailNotSending
