Research Translation Seminar: Improving the diagnosis of breast cancer with breast density

Women with higher density breast cancer are more likely to develop breast cancer. Unfortunately, their higher density tissue also makes it more difficult for clinicians to find the cancer using current screening methods. In this TRI Research Translation Seminar, leading breast cancer and cancer biology scientist, QUT's Professor Rik Thompson joins with radiologist Adj Professor Thomas Lloyd to discuss their breast cancer diagnostic work. The pair are looking at ways to improve the screening and treatment of breast cancer in women with higher density breast tissue. Prof Thompson is the TRI Research Head and Professor of Breast Cancer Research with the Faculty of Health, QUT. Adj Prof Thomas Lloyd is a Senior Staff Specialist in the Department of Diagnostic Radiology at the Princess Alexandra Hospital & Visiting Radiologist with Breastscreen Queensland.
