A series of Russian opposition figures have attended a conference in Moscow. According to Ukrainian media, the attendees discussed the potential for a new coalition of democratic voices called the 'European Choice'. One of the main speakers was opposition leader Boris Nemtsov, a long-standing critic of Russian leader Vladimir Putin. Nemtsov, who was part of Boris Yeltsin's government, said that democrats had to 'defend themselves from central government, in which case association is very important'.
