Dana Gould's 1997 TV Pilot: World On A String

Dana Gould's 1997 TV Pilot: World On A String

Unaired sitcom pilot co-written by and starring Dana Gould. Brilliantly twisted, this would have been an amazing sitcom if it had been picked up (the baby scene alone is worth the price of admission) -- but because it didn't, Dana Gould was free to join the writing staff of The Simpsons, where he wrote for 7 years and and co-executive-produced the show for 4 years. Dana Gould is my favorite comedian, ever since I saw him as Otto, the "Anti-Cupid" ("I'm filled with hatred and rage!") on The Ben Stiller Show in 1992. (Many online sources claim it was an unaired episode, but I definitely saw it broadcast over the air.) Since then, I've followed his comedy, his writing, his appearances as an actor (BTW, check out the miniseries Mob City if you haven't already), and his written-and-produced black humor ode to horror -- his wheelhouse -- Stan Against Evil, which ran for 3 seasons. His podcast is always entertaining, and if you check out his podcast, I highly recommend starting from the beginning, as there are hidden gems throughout all 10 years' worth.
