Prominent Public Outcry Part 15: THE DIPLOMATS (also known as Dipset) is an American hip hop collective formed in 1997 by childhood friends Cam'ron and Jim Jones in Harlem, New York. The group was originally composed of Cam'ron, Jim Jones and Freekey Zekey, all of whom grew up together in Harlem. In 1999, fellow Harlem-based rapper Juelz Santana joined the group. In 2001, following Cam'ron's signing, the group secured a recording contract with Diplomat Records, Cam'ron's label. It subsequently began recording its debut album, DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY, and released it on the aforementioned labels in March 2003. Cam’ron and Juelz Santana of The Diplomats (Dipset) like many artists, have been positively influenced by the life-giving teachings of H.E. Dr. Malachi Z. York and have songs mentioning him! It is interesting to note that H.E. Dr. Malachi Zadok Kobina York was actually appointed a Consul General & DIPLOMAT with DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY for the Republic of Liberia way back on December 15, 1999. The Diplomats debut Album “DIPLOMATIC IMMUNITY” was released on a VERY, Very significant date, being MARCH 25TH (2003), (1) March 25th (1968) Civil rights activists led by Martin Luther King Jr. successfully completed their 4-day, 50-mile march!!!
