Today we're hiking the Ash Spring Trail at Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area, just outside Las Vegas, Nevada. This out-and-back trail offers a quieter alternative to the busier Red Rock routes, with wide desert views, some mild scrambling, and peaceful surroundings. This trail is about 4 miles round trip with moderate difficulty. There's some loose sand, brush, and a few light rock scrambles, but nothing too technical. The last portion eases out with soft sand and a crushed rock path back to the parking lot. I track my hikes using the AllTrails app, which helps stay on course—especially in areas where the trail fades or shifts due to seasonal changes. Weather today (May 25, 2025): Mostly sunny with a high of 95°F (35°C) and a low of 70°F (21°C). Light southwest breeze—perfect hiking conditions. If you enjoy hiking, biking, off-roading, or just getting outdoors, I’d love to have you join me here. I’m just getting started and, like Dan Hurd says, I hope to earn your subscription. 🔔 Subscribe for more adventures: @MattMcWilliam 👍 Like the video if you enjoyed the hike 💬 Drop a comment with your favorite Red Rock trail or a recommendation for my next hike Trail Stats: • Trail Name: Ash Spring Trail • Location: Red Rock Canyon NCA, NV • Trail Type: Out & Back • Distance: ~4.0 miles • Elevation Gain: ~500 ft • Skill Level: Moderate • Time Estimate: 1.5 to 2 hours 🎒 Gear Used: • AllTrails app • GoPro HERO8 Black • Camelback M.U.L.E. hydration pack • REI hiking pole • Merrell hiking shoes
