Fairphone 6 /e/OS Murena Review - Quirks, Quirks, Quirks
The fairphone 6 by Murena with the /e/OS software is a completely different phone from the fairphone 6 that I’ve been using the last few weeks. The only shared commonality is literally the hardware. It sounds obvious, but I was shocked by how different it felt to use. It’s kind of like identical twins—if you’ve ever met a pair of twins, you’d be shocked to find out how different their personalities are. But here’s my TLDR if you have been considering this phone, even at the $900 price point—it can for the most part, replace your iPhone 16 or Samsung s25 or google pixel 9. If you get past the spec sheet, it works just fine, and while you may experience some loading times for some apps, the phone works on a dime. The only apps that I’ve tested that don’t work are ChatGPT and google wallet, but everything else seems to work, even random international apps like Naver Maps, a Korean app, and Swiss Mobility, a car sharing app in Switzerland. Now, whether it’s worth $900 for you in the US requires deep reflection on what it means to value your privacy and how much it bothers you that these companies literally shift your perspective. I talked about this at the opening but if you skipped it I understand.
