Driver Burned and Injured in Crash on I-40 West of Albuquerque

On June 25th, 2023, at approximately 6:52PM, Bernalillo County Deputies were dispatched to Interstate 40 at mile marker 145 in reference to a multi-vehicle crash. "One of the drivers sustained catastrophic injuries and not expected to survive," said Jayme Fuller-Gonzales Public Information Coordinator of the Bernalillo County Sheriff Office. Witnesses said they saw first responders trying to extract the driver in the sedan while it was burning. I-40 eastbound was shut down at the Route 66 Casino exit and was diverted to the frontage road.
