This time, fan-favorite fighters—joined by Johnny Cage—face off in a ruthless and bloody battle to end the dark reign of Shao Kahn, who threatens the very existence of Earth and its defenders. Karl Urban stars as Johnny Cage. The cast also includes Adeline Rudolph, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Ludi Lin, Mehcad Brooks, Tati Gabrielle, Lewis Tan, Damon Herriman, Chin Han, Tadanobu Asano (Lort Raiden), Joe Taslim (Bi-Han), and Hiroyuki Sanada (Hanzo Hasashi / Scorpion). Director Simon McQuoid returns to the helm for this sequel, following the 2021 first film. The screenplay is by Jeremy Slater and is based on the video game created by Ed Boon and John Tobias. Producers include Todd Garner, James Wan, Toby Emmerich, E. Bennett Walsh, and Simon McQuoid, while executive producers are Michael Clear, Judson Scott, Jeremy Slater, and Lawrence Kasanoff. Behind the camera are cinematographer Stephen F. Windon, production designer Yohei Taneda, editor Stuart Levy, and costume designer Cappi Ireland. Casting is by Rich Delia, and the music is by Benjamin Wallfisch. New Line Cinema, Atomic Monster/Broken Road, and Fireside Films co-produce Mortal Kombat II. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures. It will be released in theaters and IMAX® theaters starting May 8th.
