Everything you need to know about Extension Charms and Muggle Technology

#extensioncharm #muggletechnology #muggles #harrypotter The Extension Charm (Capacious extremis) is a charm that expanded the internal dimensions of an object without affecting the external dimensions, enhancing its capacity, and rendering its contents lighter. We saw the use of extension charm at Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire during the Quidditch world cup. It was used on the tent used by the 8 Weasleys and Harry and Hermione. There were probably more such tents at the world cup. Mr. Weasley had borrowed the tent from his office colleague Perkins for the occasion. Harry, Ron and Hermione later used Perkin's tent when they were on the run for finding horcurxes. The extension charm is a highly advanced magic and is heavily controlled by the ministry of magic as it can be easily misused. The ministry of magic has made a highly strict rule regarding the extension charm. It cannot be used for private purpose but only for production of objects such as school trunks and family tents approved by the relevant ministry departments. Both Mr. Weasley and Hermione Granger were acting unlawfully when they enhanced the interior space of Ford Anglia and a small handbag. The extension charm is also used in Hogwarts school trunks. Newt Scamander used the extension charm on his case during 1920s. He used the enlarged space to house the many magical creatures he collected during his trip around the world while gathering information for his upcoming book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. As we know there are a lot of ways witches and wizards use to communicate with their fellow people. They have newspapers with moving pictures, owl, fire, patronus, enchanted coins and many other objects whereas the most common medium for muggles to communicate is internet. Yet there are some witches and wizards who use internet. Some use to out of curiosity where as some use it for their research in the field of muggle studies. While witches and wizards don’t need muggle equipments like dishwasher or vacuum cleaner, some members of the wizarding world are fascinated by muggle television. Some wizards like Mr. Weasley and Sirius Black were fascinated by muggle devices and collected them. Mr. Weasley had a large collection of plugs and batteries and his well known Ford Anglia, whereas Sirius Black had a flying motorbike which he later handed to Hagrid. Some wizards in the early eighties started a British Wizarding Broadcasting Cooperation in the hope that they will be able to have their own television channel. The project was however out thrown by the ministry of magic during its early stages. Some felt that the decision was unfair as there are many wizarding programmes running on radios. Muggles often catch glimpses of such wizarding programmes and hear some of their advices. However the ministry argued that radio listening muggle population seems altogether less convinced by their advice than muggle TV viewers. There is another reason why wizards don’t use muggle device and that is cultural. The wizarding community feels proud for the fact that they should not use muggles devices and they can use magic instead. There is one small exception except the general magical dislike of muggle devices and that is cars. Witches and wizards used horse-drawn carts and sailing ships. However the magical comminuty stopped using these as they were out fashioned. However during the twenty the use of cars highly increased in the wizarding community. The ministry of magic put some useful charms including the extension charm and modified the cars and enjoyed them very much. Some pure-bloods claim that they have never touched any muggle devices and yet you find a flying Rolls Royce in their garage.
