Human Brains Preserving the Brain - #3

Human Brains: Preserving the Brain – Forum on Neurodegenerative Diseases Workshop #3 Demyelination and remyelination in neurodegeneration: From molecule to clinical application Karolinska Institutet 22 September 2022 from 1 pm to 3 pm CEST PROGRAM Ole Petter Ottersen, Opening speech Maja Jagodic, Molecular markers of Multiple Sclerosis development and progression Tobias Granberg, In vivo imaging and quantification of demyelination and remyelination ABSTRACT The aim of this workshop is to in general present the current state of the research in the multiple sclerosis field, highlight the latest findings in nerve and myelin cell biology research in the context of demyelinating diseases (Karolinska Institutet President Ole Petter Ottersen) and in particular, the use of non-protein biomarkers and epigenetic changes to resolve disease pathways and possible drug targets (Professor Maja Jagodic, Karolinska Institutet), and the development and clinical application of neuroimaging techniques to track disease processes and therapeutic effects (Associate Professor Tobias Granberg, Karolinska Institutet). The scientific and clinical context with future perspectives will be discussed in a round table led by Professor Gonçalo Castelo-Branco, Dr Chiara Starvaggi Cucuzza and Professor Fredrik Piehl. This workshop has been coordinated by Dr Tony Jimenez-Beristain.
