For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” (2 Corinthians 4: 18) This morning, we’re starting a new teaching series from the letter to the Hebrews ... we don’t know the author of this letter, some said it is Paul, some said it is Apollos or Barnabas, but we do know from chapter 2 that the message of this letter is anchored in the teaching of the Apostles. The message of Hebrews shows Christ above all and teaches us to put our faith in Him. Today we will learn about faith and learn how we can put faith to action in our life. Let’s begin this morning as we sing together: Hymn – Blessed Assurance Jesus is mine - • Blessed Assurance, Jesus is Mine (Tune: Bl... We have come together to meet with God and to take our part in the building of his church. If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. (1 John 1v8-9) So, let us turn away from sin and turn to the Lord, confessing our sins in penitence and faith as we say together: Lord God, we have sinned against you; we have done evil in your sight. We are sorry and repent. Have mercy on us according to your love. Wash away our wrongdoing and cleanse us from our sin. Renew a right spirit with us and restore to us the joy of your salvation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (based on Psalm 51) Assurance of God’s forgiveness But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. He is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the sins of the whole world. Amen. Bible Reading – Hebrew 11: 1-9 (Read by Angel Bolus) Creed – I believe in God, the Father almighty, creator of heaven and earth. I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, he is seated at the right hand of the Father, and he will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
