How to use a spinning reel. What is the anti reverse button and what does it do? Most spinning reels made today still have an anti reverse lever on them. Moving the lever in one direction will allow the handle to turn the rotor in both directions. Switch it to the other position and the handle turns only in one direction. Allowing the handle to turn in both directions is an option that can be used to fight fish without having to rely on the drag system.
