Auden and I'd say that about Neko, too, if I didn't think she'd find it reductive. ‘Middle Cyclone’ was a huge album for the first decade of this century, because the combination of modernism and tradition drives popular music and this album invoked and erased both at the same time. Neko's voice has always been too big for the world, or any genre, so I don't know what to call "This Tornado Loves You," other than the song with the best opening verse of 2009: "My love, I am the speed of sound / I left them motherless, fatherless / Their souls they hang inside-out from their mouths / But it's never enough."
