Combined arms manoeuvre, which involves tanks, infantry, and artillery working together, has taken a long time to train and develop. Ukraine now has modern Western tanks and artillery, but the missing piece of the puzzle is air power. With jets in the air, suppressing the enemy, tanks and infantry can move freely and gain an advantage. However, the ongoing attacks from Russian aircraft and attack helicopters have made it challenging for Ukrainian forces to break through the Russian defence system composed of trenches, concrete bollards, and minefields. The importance of F-16 jets and long-range artillery, such as Storm Shadow, lies in their precision. These weapons can be fired with great accuracy, hitting specific targets like command centres or critical equipment. In contrast, Russia relies on massive artillery that simply fires high explosive shells, landing wherever they may. Ukraine's use of precision artillery has proven to be more effective, as every missile or shell fired is tracked by drones, allowing for adjustments or subsequent strikes.
