Keep calm and enjoy! In the snooker clubs you can often see many players getting frustrated, getting nervous after a stupid mistake. Missing an “easy” shot it can drive you crazy, if you do not manage your thoughts. Start with the following rule: There is NO easy shot on the snooker table... even if your brain tells you that you cannot miss a certain type of shot. You need the right physically and mentally preparation for each shot. It just requires some kind of skills. NEVER underestimate the complexity of the shot. Snooker is a sport, which requires tremendous accuracy. However, many players don't see the game like this, they think it is easy to pot the ball. This way of thinking can easily make you irritable and distressed. But actually, so much accuracy is required that even the slightest mistake in your technique, or in your mind, can lead to a miss. In snooker, there is NO place to hide! There are no little moments, when the player can unload their negative thoughts. For example, in tennis, when the player is running to catch a short ball, he is not thinking about anything. His subconscious mind is in action, he is just running to get the ball. This is the moment, when a tennis player unload his negative thoughts and can carry on playing well. In snooker, it is very difficult to play only by habit, only by your subconscious mind. Every shot is a though shot on the snooker table. For example, to play red ball to the corner pocket, and try then position yourself for the blue, you need to judge the angle, how high to strike the white ball, how hard to strike the white ball, and so on. The mistake can come at any time. Every simple shot is actually not that simple, and remember: there is nowhere to unwind tension. So how do I deal with it? First: Accept the fact that failures are a necessary part of the learning process. Without misses you cannot appreciate your success! Second: try to be as calm as you can, try to have FUN on the snooker table. Remember, the enjoyment of the game will bring you a lot of positive moments on the table. Hope my advice helps you!
