I trust my government, my prime minister, and we are hoping for better days. I rather suffer, and the only damage will be to property and not injuries, and this must end." 9. Destroyed car 10. George and resident walking next to damaged home STORYLINE: Residents of southern Israel were cleaning up debris on Thursday from damage wrought to some homes and buildings after militants in Gaza Strip launched a torrent of rockets at their communities. “This is my country, I trust my government, my prime minister,” said Ashkelon resident Daniella Hassan while she was sweeping up glass following damage caused by rocket fired from Gaza Strip. Palestinian militants fired hundreds of rockets from the Gaza Strip into Israel following Israeli airstrikes in Gaza Strip that killed militant commanders and civilians, including women and children. The death toll was raised to 25 on Thursday in the latest burst of fighting. Israel was bracing for more rocket fire amid reports of faltering Egyptian attempts to broker a cease-fire. It has been the worst bout of fighting between Israel and Palestinian militants in Gaza in months. The initial Israeli airstrikes in Gaza Strip on Tuesday that set off the exchange of fire killed three senior Islamic Jihad militants in their homes and at least 10 civilians — most of them women and children. The Israeli military has said its attacks were focused on Islamic Jihad militant infrastructure in the coastal enclave and that it would investigate any civilian deaths. Those strikes set off a burst of rocket fire on Wednesday that triggered air-raid sirens throughout southern and central Israel.
