Assam Flood | Several Dead, Rail & Road Links Cut Off | 2 Lakh People Affected, Many In Relief Camps

Several people have died due to floods and in landslides triggered by heavy rains in Assam. As per reports, nearly 2 lakh people have been affected and thousands have taken shelter in relief camps. The evacuation of passengers of 2 trains, stranded in the Lumding-Badarpur hill section in for 2 days was completed on Monday. Several trains have been cancelled in the affected areas since Saturday. The work for restoration of the damaged railway tracks are also underway. National Highways and 5 state highways are affected and cut off from the rest of the state due to heavy rainfall.
