Chalmers accused of deflecting blame by referring to Reserve Bank as ‘independent’

The Australian Editor Judith Sloan says Shadow Treasurer Jim Chalmers is misleading the public by frequently referring to RBA as an "independent" entity in an attempt to deflect blame. “I think, as all economists know, budget policy and monetary policy are like two gloves; left and right,” Ms Sloan told Sky News host Peta Credlin. “What's happening with monetary policy is very much influenced by what's happening with budget policy; and there, I think he understands that but he wants to kind of obfuscate.”
