North Korea, which showcased its military strength earlier this month with the test-firing of short-range ballistic missiles,... will convene its Supreme People's Assembly on Tuesday. The assembly decides the regime's internal affairs, including laws and budget. Pundits, however, say there's a possibility the regime will use it to reaffirm its commitment to its nuclear arsenal as well as its hardline strategies against the U.S. Eyes are on whether Kim Jong-un will appear,... as he gave a speech at the 14th Supreme People's Assembly in April 2019. The regime will also celebrate the 76th anniversary of the founding of the ruling Worker's Party in October. As this year marks the tenth year of Kim Jong-un's ascent to power,... experts say the regime may use the opportunity to showcase its military capabilities. "The North is trying to justify its possession of nuclear weapons by framing an intensifying inter-Korean arms race."
