Then turning to Itachi he spoke. “What was that about?” “What was what about?” He asked with a touch more venom than he intended. “That. You froze. The Nine-Tails was in the palm of your hand and you froze. What happened?” “Nothing happened.” “Something happened.” Kisame said. “That twerp said something about having the sharingan of your kid brother. Did you freeze because of that?” Itachi looked back at Itachi, his glare warning his partner to be careful where he treaded next in his words. Kisame remained resolute as he spoke. “Sad that you didn’t get the chance to finish him off on your own? Get those Sharingan for yourself?” “Those belonged to me…” He said, lying through his teeth to give cover to the outburst he was soon to have. “THEY BELONG TO ME!!! AND SASUKE WAS MINE TO KILL, NO ONE ELSES!!!” Striking a tree, he used every ounce of chakra in his system to splinter it. Three steps from tears, he grit his teeth and abused the stump of the tree left behind. What was there left for Itachi anymore? What was there left for his life? What meaning did he have?
