FOR VIEWERS NEW TO ASMR: ASMR, or Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, is a physical sensation often described as a "tingle" in the back of the scalp or down the spine. I dislike the word "tingle" as it has certain connotations associated with it. I prefer to describe the experience as something akin to getting goosebumps. The sensation is caused by any number of "triggers," but the most common are whispering or speaking softly. In any case, the goal is to provide a sense of calm - which makes it rather like listening to white noise.
