Low self-esteem and negative body image are often physically held in the nervous system as patterns of tension. When we look in the mirror and experience self-criticism, we are often seeing our history and past judgements rather than our present self. Mirror tremoring is a somatic tool that allows you to observe and release this tightness, helping the body return to a state of physical and emotional equilibrium. I use these techniques alongside Brainspotting to help clients move through deep-seated feelings of low self-worth. By noticing where the body holds more tension on one side versus the other, we can encourage a natural release. This practice is about providing your system with the self-soothing and kindness it needs to feel grounded and secure. IMPORTANT NOTE: This practice is not suitable for everyone. If you are pregnant, have a history of seizures, psychosis, severe dissociation, recent surgery, significant injury, or any condition where strong physical or nervous system responses are not advised, this work should only be explored with a qualified practitioner or avoided altogether. Learning in a supported setting matters. The focus is grounding first, with plenty of pauses, breaks, and ongoing choice. Sessions should be short, no more than 20 minutes, and guided by what your body signals rather than pushing for outcome. The value of this work sits in integration afterwards.
