The 16-year-old Ogun school girl who accused the state's Commissioner for Environment, Abiodun Abudu-Balogun of sexual harassment has made a u turn on the matter and appealed to Nigerians to let the matter rest. Barakat Melojuekun an SSS-3 student, had accused Abudu-Balogun of sexually harassing her after she was taken to his house for a job prospect on Thursday, December 31, 2020. She was seen in a viral video giving details of how the commissioner allegedly fondled her breast and attempted to push her into his bathroom which she said she stubbornly resisted by screaming to attract the attention of neighbours. Abudu-Balogun denied the allegation in a statement he personally signed describing it as a political blackmail by his adversaries. The Ogun State Government announced his suspension from office on Sunday to allow for full investigation into the allegation. But less than twenty four hours after the suspension, Barakat has been seen in another video appealing to Nigerians to let the matter rest citing "misconceptionand misunderstanding" between her and the commissioner . "I'm using this opportunity to thank all meaningful Nigerians that showed their support and love towards this matter. And I want you to know that there were few misconception and misunderstanding between I and the commissioner and I now want to use this opportunity to appeal to meaningful Nigerians to please allow this matter to rest", the young woman said in the latest video.
