Step 5: You’re under contract, now what? So let’s recap: at this point, you and the seller have agreed to the terms of the purchase agreement. There’s a lot that needs to happen now. This is when it gets good – and by good, I mean, there’s a lot of work to be done: Step 1. Place your escrow deposit. Remember, you’ve learned that this is an amount that goes towards the purchase of your new home. This amount will be held by either a third party escrow agent or the title company that is going to be doing the closing. The escrow deposit must be sent within 3 days, unless otherwise agreed to in the contract.
