Indigenous activist, singer-songwriter, storyteller, and Silkroad artist Pura Fé shares "Canoe Song" from the Silkroad Ensemble's Uplifted Voices Tour 2024. "I created it to honor my North Carolina Coastal Tuscarora Ancestors that lived on the Neuse River/Pamlico Sound—it went out into the Atlantic Oceans. Our Ancestral Waterways were our highways that connected us all; they were also our Indigenous family trees, our mother earth, bloodlines and Tribal territories that ran up and down as opposed to the colonial state and county lines and railroad tracks that cut across severing the umbilical, natural flow of the landscape.
