Why V-Flats Are Awesome! | Take and Make Great Photography with Gavin Hoey
If you need a background, a reflector, a room divider, or a flag to block light, the V-Flat can do all of that and more. These simple black and white folded boards are super useful and, in this video photographer, Gavin Hoey will show how he uses them in his small home studio. If you need to know how to stop lens flare without reaching for Photoshop or Lightroom, Gavin’s first setup is what you need. Using two V-Flats, Gavin creates a dramatic high contrast, rim-lit portrait. After that, Gavin switches to the white side of the V-Flat to bounce light into a pair of reflective ski goggles and then adds a sprinkling of snow with a little bit of Photoshop magic.
