British Sea Power play Machineries of Joy live at the Shepherd's Bush Empire in London on 17 April 2013. Machineries of Joy was the lead single from BSP's latest album... Machineries of Joy! BSP played two sets at the Shepherd's Bush Empire, performing a short 'quiet' set before support band Toy played; returning just over an hour later for the 'loud' main event. And loud it certainly was! Opening with a blistering Remember Me, BSP tore through another 90 minutes of classics, selections from Machineries, and rarer fan favourites. No Lucifer, Waving Flags and (inevitably) The Great Skua were possibly the most rapturously received. Yan looked genuinely shocked and moved by the response at the end of the latter. So. How do you follow that? With Please Stand Up! The giant polar bear made its now customary appearance for set closer Carrion/All In It, before BSP returned for an encore that featured Loving Animals (from MoJ) and fan favourite Lately. All in all, a pretty awesome gig!
