Actual Proof of Why Tesla Sucks! - Part 1 2017 Tesla Model S Versus 2017 Toyota Prius Prime 2017 Toyota Prius Prime Versus 2017 Tesla Model S Toyota Prius Prime Versus Tesla Model S narration script: Tesla Model S Versus Toyota Prius Prime Grading rubric. In each category, the winner gets all the points while the loser gets none. A straight scale, which means no weighting, is used. An American style letter grade will be given to each contestant. The total score percentages of 0 to 59.9, 60 to 69.9, 70 to 79.9, 80 to 89.9, and 90 to 100 correspond to letter grades F, D, C, B, and A respectively. Most importantly, all factors used are objective. First, safety. The Model S only gets an acceptable rating in the frontal small overlap test, whereas the Prius Prime gets a good rating. Since the Model S costs a lot more than the Prius Prime, the budget for making the car safer should be greater. Hence, it should be a lot easier to design a safer Model S. Instead, it turned out to be less safe. It is also larger than the Prius Prime, which means that safety features, which take up a constant amount of space, would reduce the passenger room proportionally less. It was also laughable at how the lower rating was caused by only a bad seat belt. It has been many years since the previous badly designed seat belt. Even the cheapest car in the UK, the 5995 pound Dacia Sandero, has its seat belts functioning properly. The Model S is a huge joke to luxury cars for its improper seat belts. Second, price. The Prius Prime is affordable to the average person, that is, working class or lower middle class, whereas, the Model S is only affordable to well-off people, that is, upper middle class or above. In other words, the Prius Prime is a people's car, whereas, the Model S is only for the rich minority. Third, exterior size. The Prius Prime has smaller external dimensions, which means it is easier to park in tight spaces. Fourth, weight. The Prius Prime is lighter, which means that it can be picked up easier. In the event of a break down, it can more easily be pushed by the passengers to the nearest mechanic as to avoid towing fees. Fifth, reliability. Toyota is famous for building very reliable and durable cars. Unfortunately, Teslas are infamous for the balloon squeal malfunction when accelerating hard. They are rated as not recommended in terms of reliability by Consumer Reports. Sixth, honesty. Back in 2013, Elon Musk, who was the CEO of Tesla Motors, boldly claimed that the Model S was the safest car ever made. However, the 2013 Honda Accord, along with some other regular cars, had earned good ratings in the same test. The Model S was not tested by the IIHS at that time. However, recent results show that the Model S was less safe than the Accord. Moreover, safety has been enhanced for Model S cars built after October 2016, which means that a 2013 Model S could have potentially gotten a measly marginal rating, Elon Musk could have potentially been blatantly lying. To be cautious and to be nice, let's just assume that he was careless in making his claims. Such a reckless person should not get that much credit. However, even today, after the results were released, Tesla still claims on its website that the Model S is the safest car on the road. It is appalling how such an expensive car has bombed this test. According to this test, the Toyota Prius Prime is head and shoulders the clear winner. Thank you for watching this video.
