Mallikarjun Kharge Speech: Congress President and Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha, Mallikarjun Kharge, has provided an explanation for his absence from the #IndependenceDay festivities at the Red Fort today. Kharge cited two primary reasons for his non-attendance. Firstly, he revealed that he is currently grappling with eye-related issues. Additionally, he highlighted the stringent protocols that demanded him to personally hoist the Tricolour at his residence at 9.20 am, followed by a similar flag hoisting at the Congress office. Given the tight security measures in place, he found it practically challenging to navigate the logistics and reach the Red Fort on time. Kharge noted that the security restrictions imposed around the Prime Minister's departure from the venue also contributed to his decision, as it would have posed further time constraints.
