Rio Olympics: Sindhu & Srikanth Reach Quarterfinals, Saina Exits

n a major disappointment at Rio Olympics, World No. 5 Saina Nehwal crashed out of Rio Olympics. However, Shuttler, Kidambi Srikanth and P V Sindhu kept India afloat by advancing to the pre-quarterfinals of the badminton event. Sindhu dominated right from the start to defeat her highly rated Chinese opponent by 21-13, 21-15 within 40 minutes in the pre-quarterfinal clash at Court 2 of the Riocentro Pavilion 4 on Monday. In another match, Kidambi Srikanth, World no. 11, topped Group H and became the second shuttler after P Kashyap in the 2012 London Games to reach the last eight in men's singles. Srikanth continued his commanding form to register a 21-19, 21-19 win over his Dannish opponent in just 42 minutes. It is believed that both the players will face tough competition in next round from Chinese players.
