DFLers made a motion to suspend House rules in order to take up HF5140, which includes a ban on the sale of semiautomatic military-style assault weapons and large-capacity magazines. Such a motion needs the support of 90 of the 134 members of the House, and after six-plus hours of debate, the motion failed.
